Get the picture onto your iPhone

How your mixer’s multiview gets onto iPhone or iPad – via NDI®, VDO.Ninja or Multiview Live Sender.

Multiview Live shows the multiview picture your vision mixer outputs. There are three ways to get it onto the iPhone – plus a USB video device on the iPad.

NDI®

If your vision mixer or a computer sends the multiview via NDI® on your local network, the app picks it up directly – with very low latency and no extra software.

  1. iPhone and NDI source are on the same network.
  2. In the app, choose Settings → Source → NDI®.
  3. Pick the source from the list. If iOS asks about the local network, allow it.

Tip: On Wi-Fi we recommend NDI|HX – it needs about 10–20 Mbit/s instead of 100–150 Mbit/s for full NDI®.

VDO.Ninja

Free and with no extra software: a computer at the mixer sends the multiview through the browser, the app receives it. It works on the local network and over the internet, with a delay of about 0.2 to 1 second.

  1. On the computer that has the multiview (e.g. via a capture card), open a push link like https://vdo.ninja/?push=MyMultiview.
  2. In the app, open Settings → MULTIVIEW · VDO.NINJA and enter the matching view link: https://vdo.ninja/?view=MyMultiview.
  3. The app connects by itself after a second. When everything works you see Connected · stream active.

You can also enter the link in the expanded bar at the top – it also has Connect/Disconnect and Sound on/off.

Better quality and password

Under Settings → Advanced settings → VDO.Ninja extra parameters you’ll find the presets Default, High and High + 8 Mbit/s. On weak Wi-Fi, stay with Default.

Add a password to both links: &password=…

Multiview Live Sender

Our free Multiview Live Sender runs on a Mac. It takes the multiview, e.g. from a capture card, and sends it to iPhone and iPad over Wi-Fi or LAN with very low latency. iPhone and iPad find the Mac automatically – in the app you just choose the sender as the video source.

USB video device (iPad only)

On an iPad with USB-C you can also bring in the multiview directly by cable – no network needed and with very low latency. This works with anything that shows up like a webcam (UVC), e.g. the USB-C output of an ATEM Mini or a USB capture card on your mixer’s multiview output.

  1. Connect the device to the iPad via USB-C.
  2. In the app, choose Settings → Source → USB and pick the device.
  3. Allow camera access the first time.

This source is not available on iPhone – iOS does not support external cameras there.

Multiview format

Whichever way you choose: tell the app under Choose Multiview Format how your mixer splits its multiview – see Set up the multiview.

Tip: If the video doesn’t start, tap the picture once – iOS sometimes blocks autoplay.
